The word “Nintendo” is virtually synonymous with video games, even in the age of PlayStation and Xbox. It’s been that way since the late 1980s, when Nintendo took over from Atari as the king of video game companies. In 1988, the company began publishing Nintendo Power, which is arguably the most iconic video game magazine […]
Find Us at Too Many Games This June 2023
Heritage Auctions will have a booth at Too Many Games, occurring June 23-25 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. It is one of the biggest, most respected retro gaming conventions in the country. We’ll be accepting consignments, showing off some rare and high-graded video games, talking with collectors and gamers about what we do, and in general hanging out and having a great time.
My 5 Favorite Props from The Comisar Collection
Like many of you reading this, I am absolutely blown away by James Comisar’s incredible array of classic TV props that Heritage is offering for sale June 2-4, 2023. The collection includes some of the most iconic items in the history of television, including the Cheers bar, Archie and Edith Bunker’s chairs, the directional signpost from M*A*S*H, and costumes from Star Trek, Batman, The Adventures of Superman, and numerous other shows, to name just a few of the nearly 1,000 items.
PC Video Games Showcase Auction
Like video games, computer games are coming into their own as bona fide collectibles, similar to comic books, trading cards, and action figures. We’ve got a number of classics in our June 15 PC Video Games Showcase Auction, including such titles as Age of Empires, Call of Duty, and World of Warcraft, but I thought it would be fun to focus here on five media tie-in titles that might get overlooked.
July 6 2023 Sixth Generation and Beyond Video Games Showcase
We love vintage video games as much as anyone, but it’s fun collecting modern titles as well. Our July 6 Sixth Generation Showcase sale features tons of great games for a variety of recent and current consoles, including the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. We’ve also got games for such systems as the PlayStation 2 and Sega Dreamcast, both of which debuted more than two decades ago but still seem relatively modern to us, at least compared to such vintage systems as the Atari 2600 and NES.

At Heritage Auctions, we’re always ready for a fight. No, we’re not violent people (we’re quite peaceful, in fact), but we love a good fighting video game, whether it’s Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II, Super Smash Bros., or something more off the beaten path. There’s just something about knocking the stuffing out of an onscreen opponent that is super satisfying!
