Our Saturday Estate auction showcases eight unique hand-painted carousel panels that date back several decades. Carousels became popular in American during the mid to late 19th Century, and early carousels often featured hand-painted panels, similar to these, as well as ornate and bejeweled saddles and animals for children to ride on.
Carousel makers put hours of effort into new and fun designs for their rides to attract children and audiences of all ages. These panels are a perfect example of Americana and the hand-painting panels that made carousels so bright and colorful. They would make excellent wall decorations or could be turned into a unique table!
