Meteorites are definitely one of the most interesting varieties of specimens that can be found on earth. With their extraterrestrial origins, any pieces which are found – especially those associated with popular and classified falls – are something unique and special. While Iron Meteorites can have the “look” and feel of what most people expect a Meteorite to be, they can often be cut and etched to reveal what is known as the Widmanstätten pattern – a latticework of crystallization diagnostic of each particular Iron Meteorite. Stony Meteorites are another category with their own unique characteristics. Pallasites are another very intriguing group of which some feature gemmy crystals of the mineral Olivine, essentially the non-gem variety of Peridot, in addition to metallic components. Meteorites will often be cut and, sometimes, even polished, to showcase the amazing internal structure of these rocks from space. With such a great backstory, it is not surprising that examples are often made into jewelry. Various types of Meteorites can be fashioned into items like necklace pendants, earrings, bracelets and even cufflinks, not to mention more exotic items like watches, knives and, even, pens. The inherent unique nature of Meteorite material makes any application a treasure.
