Star Trek Collectibles: Perhaps Not The “Final” Frontier, But They’re Getting Rarer and Rarer!

In the Hollywood memorabilia collecting world, there are those pieces that may ebb and flow in popularity. Collectors may covet them one minute and be ready to let them go in the next as they shape-shift their interests and refine their collections. In other words, they come around again. Then there are those pieces that are sold and “stick” forever, never to be seen again. Well, at least not for cycles that may span decades! Maybe in museums? Star Trek is one of those multi-generational titles that everyone knows and loves and one which, for its hardcore fans, sticks – big time!

It’s a fair question to ask, “How much vintage Star Trek memorabilia can there possibly be out there?”

Well, here at Heritage Auctions, we’ve handled a lot of it, so it’s not a stretch to say that there’s more than you’d expect from a groundbreaking series that initially only occupied two seasons. It very nearly only occupied one (thanks for fixing that, Bjo Trimble and fandom)! But as much or as little as there may be of it, it is not infinite, most of it is already owned and out of reach, and the finest examples are always snatched up and taken out of circulation as soon as they hit the auction block.

In our upcoming Star Trek Auction: Tues. Feb. 22nd you’ll find highly visible, screen-worn costumes, screen-used props, rare signed memorabilia, concept art, and many more items and objects from some of the most memorable episodes and scenes of Star Trek: The Original Series. And many of these examples are of the highest quality we’ve handled, considering their age and use. Highlights include:

There are also some beautiful lots that could prove to give even a fan on a budget a shot at an integral piece that contributed to the series or pays homage to the art and craft of production:

The phaser and communicator props that complete the display, are the finest replicas available and custom-embellished with handmade metal components. This figure was on display for thousands of appreciative fans at the 2021 L.A. Comic-Con.
