Movie Posters Showcase Auction April 26 2023 Preview

Ghost movie poster

Now more than ever alternative movie posters are beloved for their limited nature and incredible designs. As a longtime collector of alternative posters, I, like many other devotees, was heartbroken to learn of the recent news about the Mondo layoffs post-Funko acquisition. Without the tireless efforts of the original team of tastemakers who pioneered Mondo, the platform they created for their commissioned artists would have likely never spawned the community of passionate cinema fans and poster collectors that have formed over the last two decades.

Heritage is honored to present yet another AMP-focused auction highlighting a beautifully curated collection of early limited-edition Mondo releases, private commissions, and other special works by some of the most renowned artists in the industry including Kevin Tong, Tyler Stout, Laurent Durieux, Ken Taylor, Martin Ansin, Olly Moss, and many more.

AUCTION PREVIEW: 2023 April 26 Movie Posters Showcase Auction #42161. Here are a few special highlights of the auction:

This limited edition holographic foil print for Ghost in the Shell by Martin Ansin was offered during MondoCon’s screening event and is without a doubt one of the best uses of foil in the alternative poster scene. A Uruguayan-based illustrator, Ansin has become one of the biggest names in alternative movie poster art today.

Tyler Stout’s Guardians of the Galaxy print was provided only to cast and crew members that worked on the Marvel film and was never sold to the public. This specific version comes from the Mondo staff archives. A driving force in the alternative poster world, Stout provides an individualistic style to his offerings that has elevated his works to be some of the most sought-after.

A personal favorite that perhaps speaks to both vintage and modern poster collectors, is this fantastic screen print for The Thing by legendary poster artist Drew Struzan. Commissioned by the studio to create the original artwork for the mass-produced posters for the feature in the 1980s, this modern screen print features artwork that has become synonymous with John Carpenter and the horror genre.

Typically sold out within minutes during their original debuts, opportunities to procure these hand-signed and numbered limited edition prints are slim, and this collection is now live for bidding.
