We’re excited to announce that we will have a booth at Retropalooza in Arlington, Texas, which is about 15 minutes from our home offices in Dallas–we love supporting local shows! Occurring September 16 and 17 at the Arlington Expo Center, Retropalooza is a “celebration of all things retro,” with a particular focus on video games. We’ll be accepting consignments, showing off some rare and high-grade video games, talking with collectors and gamers about what we do, and in general hanging out and having a great time.
This is the 10th anniversary of Retropalooza, and I’ve attended every year but one (when I was out of town). I always have a great time checking out the vendors’ room, where you can purchase not only console and computer games–both vintage and recent releases–but also action figures, comic books, trading cards, 8-bit art, and other geeky items. You’ll find every type of vendor, from collectors looking to pare down their collections to retail outlets promoting their online and brick-and-mortar stores. Many vendors encourage trades, so bring your extras! Other activities at the show include a cosplay contest, arcade games set on free play, and panels on various aspects of video games.
Want to meet and get a pic with your favorite content creator, voice actor, or other industry figure? Guests at this year’s event include, among others, Tim Kitrow, the voice of NBA Jam (Boomshakalaka!), Ian James Corlett, best-known for Dragon Ball Z, Dameon Clark, who voices Handsome Jack in the Borderlands video game series, and Pixel Dan, popular YouTuber and author of The Toys of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2021, Dark Horse, 2021). Billy and Jay, aka The Game Chasers, are mainstays at Retropalooza. Not only do they have a big following on YouTube and are popular guests each year, but Jay is also the founder and chief architect of the show!
If you’ve ever been to Retropalooza, let us know in the comments. And if you plan on attending this year, please stop by our booth and say hello!
